Sheparding Literacy

Sheparding Literacy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that was created with the goal of providing access to reading resources to children in underserved communities by collecting and donating new and previously loved books.

Our founder, Ava Shepard, has always had a love and passion for reading. When she realized that not everyone has equal access to books, she made it her goal to do her part to help fix the issue by creating Sheparding Literacy.

Ava turned her hobby of reading into a resource and service to others.

To empower children through literacy and foster a love for reading. Sheparding Literacy strives to provide access to books, nurturing a foundation for lifelong learning and academic success, ultimately shaping a brighter future for the members of our community.
